How to Support Your Child's Learning Overview
At Forge Wood Primary School, we work in collaboration with parents and carers to actively support their children’s learning.
We recognise that the way our children learn today can be very different from our own experiences, so we create a range of opportunities to enable families to be part of their child’s learning journey.
These are in addition to parents’ evenings and written reports. They include:
Curriculum Open evenings specific to each year group: we share the learning projects and curriculum expectations plus all the exciting opportunities that are planned for the year ahead.
Curriculum Workshops: these vary over the year and new opportunities created in response to parental feedback. Examples include Phonics Workshops, Early Maths Workshops, Handwriting support sessions, MTC and SATS information.
Open Classrooms: Families are invited into the classroom to share their children’s learning.
Special Events: These vary each year but have included amazing celebrations such as our The Forge Wood Arts Festival (Please click here to see our amazing video) and Forge Wood Science Exhibition.
Wellbeing and Support workshops and Programmes: These include parent workshops on the Zones of Regulation and Jigsaw family programmes.
Online resources: We actively recommend online platforms that can support learning at home.
Home Learning: This is designed to be progressive and age appropriate and shared in a variety of ways including take home resources and reading books, and additional learning and opportunities shared on Google Classroom.
